Who doesn't enjoy experiencing island culture? Where you can take off your shoes, leave your job at the office, and where cocktails are not only available at the touch of a finger, but encouraged.
Island getaways aren't just about lounging on the beach, though that is undoubtedly a significant part of it. In addition, they may be rich in adventure, water sports, wildlife viewing, and ancient cultures with a long history. Therefore, there is an island out there calling your name whether you're seeking for a trip to a normal tropical beach getaway or a journey to an exotic habitat undisturbed by tourism.
Mo'orea and Tahiti
Beautiful islands abound in Tahiti, which is an aquatic country. And Mo'orea is the greatest of them all, in my opinion. Given that it includes a variety of attractions, this island is my top recommendation for anyone considering a vacation to Tahiti. On the island, there are a few fancy hotels, but there are also lots of guesthouses and more laid-back places to hang out. There are also many fantastic activities available in what we're dubbing Tahiti's adventure island, like visiting the native sting rays and sharks right off the island for some of the best marine animal viewing.
There are more than 17,000 islands in Indonesia. It should therefore come as no surprise that it was challenging to select only a few islands for this list. However, selecting Bali for the list was an easy choice. This island, often referred to as the Island of the Gods, has a certain mystique and ethereality about it. The island has developed into somewhat of a magnet for expatriates and long-term visitors who may initially arrive as guests but quickly settle down in this tropical island paradise. It is simple to understand why after myself having been there a few times. And if you want to do something unusual, think about taking one of these cruises to Indonesia.
3. Greece's Santorini
Greece is home to many stunning islands and has warm summer temperatures. We consider this to be one of the most romantic getaways available, despite the fact that it is not a tropical location (it is a part of the Cyclades islands in the Aegean Sea). Therefore, the best time to visit Santorini if you want a sunny stay is in the middle of the year, during the scorching summer. Naturally, this is also the busiest time of year to visit Greece, so be prepared for crowds—lots of them!
4. Tahiti's Bora Bora
Our top pick for the islands to visit in Tahiti was Mo'orea, although Bora Bora was a close second. The island, which is known for being one of the most popular honeymoon destinations in the world, may already be recognizable to you. There is a good explanation for that, in fact! There are many opulent resorts in Bora Bora, all of which cater to honeymooners and couples. Therefore, if you're seeking for a more upscale location, this is it!
5.Italy's Capri
Capri, an island in the Bay of Naples, is one of Italy's most prized possessions. Hollywood royalty congregates in Capri during the summer since it has long been a favorite destination for movie stars and their illustrious yacht parties. What about for the rest of us? The good news is that Capri is accessible to everyone, regardless of means, and accommodations range from chic homestays to opulent five-star hotels. Without a doubt, the shoulder seasons are the greatest times of year to travel in order to avoid crowds, but summer also offers the extra benefits of unlimited sunlight and a lively atmosphere.
6. Thailand's Ko Samui
Ko Samui, an island in the Gulf of Thailand, is filled with stunning hotels, each with amazing views of the water and distant islands. Ko Samui, the second-largest island in Thailand, is home to numerous exquisite hotels, delectable eateries, and luscious palm trees that sway in the breeze. If you're traveling alone and taking me on a romantic getaway, keep in mind that it has long been a top choice for honeymooners and couples seeking a romantic getaway!
7. Majorca, Spain
The largest of Spain's Balearic Islands, Majorca has quickly risen to the top of vacationers' lists for those seeking water, beach, and sun in the Mediterranean. What can you anticipate from Majorca then? There are many beach resorts available, accommodating different travel types and price ranges. When you've had enough of sunbathing, head to the limestone mountains to see the Roman and Moorish ruins.
8.Komodo, Indonesia
Until today, Komodo Island and its neighbors have been one of Indonesia's best-kept secrets. This region of Indonesia is quickly rising in popularity and development momentum and is quickly turning into one of the must-see destinations in the more than 17,000-island nation. And with good cause! The enormous Komodo dragon, a three-meter tall lizard with a reputation for being dangerous, is found only in Komodo. On Komodo Island, though, you have the opportunity to see one up close if you so choose. Once you've checked that box, make sure to allocate time to explore the nearby islands, such as Pink Beach for a quiet retreat and Padar Island for its breathtaking.
9. Lombok Island, Indonesia
Located in the West Nusa Tenggara province of Indonesia, Lombok Island is popular among visitors to Bali who are looking to extend their travels in the country and venture elsewhere beyond the island of the Gods. So, what makes Lombok one of the most beautiful tropical islands in the world? Well for starters, it is much less discovered than neighbouring Bali. You’ll find many of the same style of cafes, restaurants and even hotels here, but much fewer crowds (however it should be noted that this is changing). And as for island living, Lombok has a much more laidback vibe with many locals still running their own small businesses, giving a more authentic and true experience compared to the likes of Bali, where many international brands and business owners have swept through to take over storefronts.
10.The Cook Islands
The Cook Islands are a group of only 15 islands that are dispersed over a large area in the South Pacific. You'll probably land on the largest island, Rarotonga, when you take a flight internationally. Then, you can decide whether to stay on this island or travel to one of the other, less traveled islands (there are a number to pick from!) for a more off-the-beaten-path location. Each island has its own distinct personality, so do your research and choose the one that provides you the most options for your particular travel preferences.
